Everything You Need To Know About Rex Lantano
Believe me, this young actor from ‘What Home Feels Like’ has that boy next door feature and has that star quality that every aspiring actor should have. He captures me with his warm-approachable personality and he’s that kind of boy who carries himself very well. He’s more than a pretty face. He got that talent and personality. He is Rex Lantano.
Rex Lantano is a 20-year old guy from South. This guy exerts effort, driving from South to North to have a little chat with us. I believe that all “South guys” are achievers and sometimes girl lovers. Well, Rex had five girlfriends. He embodies that type of guy who wears clean polo plus pants and his silver watch to complete the whole clean, schick look. His eyes are charming, making him more the boy next door type guy.
He started as talent, a usual story of a star who comes from the lower house and dreaming his name to be a power house. Rex appeared in ABS-CBN’s ‘Princess and I.’ He also got roles in ‘Maalala Mo Kaya,’ ‘Maynila,’ and some indie films. He also portrayed roles for theater plays, making him believe that there’s a big difference in TV, film, and theater. His parents noticed his being extra, an ultimate “bibo” kid.
His dad works abroad and his grandfather is Rudy Lantano, a renowned Filipino inventor who invented and developed Alco-diesel, Lan-gas and Superbunker Formula L (SBFL). His three oil product hybrids were on its developmental stage during the 70s. Rex says that his biggest inspiration is his grandfather who contributed to the Philippines.
This young actor is not just an actor, he is a young boss himself by owning “MANG TUHOG BBQ HOUSE” but decided to close his food business. He finished his third year in college, took up Mass Communications. He shares that he loves being in front of the camera as well as being a backstage guy that’s why he took up the course. He loves being in the production, always interested in the process.
Of course, it’s always a dream come true for Rex to be working with great actors. His recent film ‘What Home Feels Like’ gives him so much and considers himself blessed. Rex opens that being an actor in the film together with Bembol Roco and Irma Adlawan makes him a “real actor.” He feels like a star. He describes Bembol and Irma as “push button” who master the craft of acting when director says “action,” and master the “back-to-normal” when director says “cut.” He watched his own film many times and always makes him emotional.
On the question, what qualities he should have to be a star, or what reminders he could give himself, he tells, “Basta maging professional. Maging makatao. ‘Wag maging cause of delay, makisama sa lahat, and galingan sa work.” This guy loves his craft, he loves what he’s doing. Rex believes that all actors, from newbie, talent, to big star should have equal treatment in the industry because they are all working hard to really shine. He is waiting for another shot after his film with Bembol and Irma. This guy values everything and dreams so big to get his spotlight.
John Lloyd Cruz, Coco Martin, and Jericho Rosales are his fave stars. These three actors are really good in their crafts according to Rex. Working with them is his ultimate dream. I believe him when he says “Nag-iintay po na mabigyan naman ng chance, na kami namang mga baguhan, at kapag nabigyan ng chance, gagalingan namin.” That thirstiness, that hungriness to spotlight will for sure give Rex a shot. He’s not just a charming guy, he got talent.
