Former GirlTrends member Kelley Day shares her skincare routine
The hype of complicated beauty regimen is all over. From “mask” removing black heads to “highlighter” giving some glow, women, especially in the entertainment business, get real on taking care of the skin because that’s where job comes, having good, glowing skin.
For Kelley Day, one of the stars of “Barangay 143,” the first Filipino anime series, airing on October 21 at GMA-7, her skincare depends on the weather but applies the “basics.” She is playing “Jinri,” the ex-girlfriend of Bren voiced by Migo Adecer.
“It varies depending sa weather. But I just have the standard, face wash and remove my eye makeup with makeup wipes if I have shoot especially and then moisturizer. Try to keep it simple.”
Kelley, who rides LRT with Migo and Ruru, reminds everyone that it doesn’t have to be complicated for you to have glowing skin. Keeping it simple–that’s what Kelley does. Her schedule especially when appearing to public places with sun’s super high doesnt stop her. With or without make up, she manages to look so glowing without trying.
Without camera, the “Barangay 143” star says she’s pretty boyish. Her simplicity defines her beauty. She got that modelish body, a perfect for magazine cover plus her beauty that is so alluring.
“I guess I’m pretty boyish. My interest kasi like I’m quite girly the way I dress for work or ‘yung mga characters ko like my roles usually medyo mayaman pero sa totoo, I’m super chill. I like sneakers, sweatpants and caps. That’s really me.”
The pretty boyish also shares her experience voicing an anime character. It’s new for her. Though it’s just her voice, it’s still takes a lot of movements. It’s really giving life to a character through a voice.
“It’s really hard. You have to prepare like the night before, not necessarily the words or the lines but your voice. Make sure you have enough sleep, drink lots of water, avoid getting sick kasi the microphone is so sensitive. Like there’s any laway. That’s really the most challenging part for me.
“If you’re running in the scene, maybe you jog a bit para medyo out of breath ka. You can use your hands to imagine the scene.”
If she finds the challenge, that means she’s giving every breath to make the character alive. Now on GMA, Kelley begins her solo career as Kelley not GirlTrend Kelley. A total career move for her as she shows herself, her artistry to public. Kapuso talent can shine and glow now that she’s solo artist. Not her glowing skin, not her alluring beauty why GMA and the producers of “Barangay 143” chose her, more than her external beauty is her inner beauty who totally shines and glows.
