It’s more fun in the Philippines Netizens, food giant greet revelers with ‘Happy Birthday Pilipinas! giant cake’
Certified Pinoy food giant Jollibee sees a special opportunity to do something good about the Filipino for the 117th year of Philippine Independence. Being a Filipino brand, it has activated the Happy Birthday Pilipinas Project – a Celebration of being Filipino.
The independence day parade started at 6:00 am in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, culminating to a program and wreath-laying ceremony at the Aguinaldo Shrine headed by Gov. JV Remulla and the local government of Cavite. Special guest, Camarines Rep. Leni Robredo, did the wreath-laying afterwards.
Towards the end of the program is the presentation of a giant cake with a flag design that says, Happy Birthday Pilipinas! Kids blow the candles and revelers get to share the sweet taste of independence.
Earlier, Jollibee asks Pinoys “Anong gift mo sa Pilipinas?” The commitment expressed by the Filipinos and Pinoys at heart on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #HappyBdayPilipinas were used to decorate the cake.
After invoking Filipino pride with their Foreignoy campaign last year, and declaring ang “Sarap maging Pilipino!” the country’s leading fast food chain is now appealing to the Filipino youth to voice out their commitment via social media, and to spring into action thru simple acts that they can do for their country as their gift on its birthday.
“Being a proudly-Filipino brand, we’d like to enjoin every Pinoy, especially the youth to celebrate our country’s birthday in an extraordinary way.
“With the Happy Birthday Pilipinas project, we’re encouraging everyone not just to express that “ang Sarap maging Pilipino”, but to take action and do their own part in giving back to their country,” said Vice President for Marketing Harvey Ong.
The birthday cake was unveiled as part of a simple yet symbolic Independence Day program at the Aguinaldo Shrine, where the Philippine flag was first hoisted and the Marcha Nacional Filipina was played before Filipinos in 1898.
Indeed, independence is sweet and fun. Mabuhay ang kalayaan!
God bless the Philippines.
