Why Golden State Warriors won over Cleveland Cavaliers at the NBA Finals 2015?
We’re not here to analyze all the game details and stats, but we’d certainly like to share our thoughts on why the Golden State Warriors won and why Cleveland Cavaliers lost the 2015 NBA Finals 105-97.
Golden State Warrior’s 2015 NBA Championship was in many ways similar to their victory 40 years ago during the 1974-75 season in the sense that they have a complete powerhouse team and they won on the road. The dynamic scorer that time was well-known player Rick Barry who was also the inspiration for the anime character in Slam Dunk, Hanamichi Sakuragi.
Rick Barry entered the postseason averaging 30.6 points per game, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. However, Rick Barry was not the only man who was powerful at that time, he was supported by a full house of supporting players consisting of fellow Hall of Famer Jamaal Wilkes (14.2 points, 8.2 rebounds), point guard Butch Beard (12.8 points, 4.2 assists), guard Charles Johnson (10.9 points), and center Clifford Ray (9.4 points, 10.6 rebounds).
Fast forward to the present, today’s Golden State Warriors was their fight with all their might, not with a single man but with a full team. They’ve won Game 6 with the help of Andre Iguodala, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green. Draymond Green particularly made a triple-double with 16 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds.
So why did the Golden State warriors won? It is plain and simple, they are a team. Basketball unlike other games like tennis, golf, and badminton is a team game. You gotta have better teamwork with excellent players for better chances of winning.
Cleveland Cavaliers lost simply because they did not work as a team and they relied heavily on LeBron James. King James is performing awesome but what can he do if he is playing with a team that is 60th weakest among the 62 teams that had been to the NBA finals?
LeBron James was the backbone of the Cavaliers and he’s the only person that they are relying on. Remember what happened when he went out in 2010? Cleveland had a 26-game losing streak, which set an NBA record and tied the 1976–77 Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the longest losing streak in any American professional team sport.
When King James came back they never learn from their weak spot and instead continue with the same strategy. It looks like it is working well and then at the end they realized it is not enough. LeBron James with more than 40 points a game was not enough to give them an NBA Championship. What else can we say, but better luck next time for the Cleaveland Cavaliers.
Our congratulations to the Golden State Warriors for their fourth NBA Championship!
