IdeaFirst’s boss struggles titling new movie
Acclaimed director Perci Intalan started his career working with GMA 7 as a copywriter in 1993.
Then, he worked for Disney as AP which exposed him to different aspects of production.
In 2014, he debuted as a film director in “Dementia,” a horror film that starred Superstar Nora Aunor about a woman faced with a mental illness and strange occurrences in her ancestral home.
He also did “Shake, Rattle and Roll XV: Flight 666” in 2015 for Regal Entertainment.
He also helmed some episodes in “ParangNormal Activity” and “Ipaglaban Mo.”
As president and executive producer of Ideafirst Company, he has won several awards as producer, director, writer, editor and sound engineer.
His latest directorial effort “My Fairy Tail Love Story” is his third feature film.
Since the release of its teaser, he is already being showered with praise for its Disneyish quality bringing an anticipation to an all new-high.
Perci said credits must also be given to his cinematographers.
He also explained why he had to take over the directorial job of his spouse.
“A year ago in March last year pa siya, we have to stop kasi ginagawa nina Janella at Elmo ang “Bloody Crayons.” Unfortunately, kailangan na ni Jun na tapusin ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes, so sabi sa akin ni Jun, saluhin ko na, so nag-usap kami kasi I was there from the start. The way he told me also, he came in confident na iyong materyal malapit sa akin, dahil mala-Disney nga. So, ayun, kaya iyong mga na-shoot I guess mga 4 or 5 sequences, na-retain,” he pointed out.
He also said that “My Fairy Tail Love Story” is not an ordinary mermaid tale.
Kaya, lagi kong sinasabi, we’re actually benefiting also from the success ng ibang pelikula. Kasi ang mga mermaid movies, laging naghi-hit. Ang mga mermaid projects for some reason, may magic sa audience,” he asseverated.
He also admitted that he had a hard time looking for the right title to his movie.
So, nabuo ang My Fairy Tail Love Story. It’s a play of words na na-gets ko agad, na it’s a mermaid movie,” he concluded.
“My Fairy Tail Love Story” offers a different twist to the usual fairy tale romance.
In the story, Chantel(Janella Salvador) is a spoiled brat who’s oblivious of the warnings against disturbing a coral formation under the sea.
Because of this, she wakes up discovering she has been turned into a mermaid. With the help of her best friend Noah (Elmo Magalona), Chantel tries to break the curse, thinking that the answer lies in that most magical of solutions: true love’s kiss from a Prince Charming.
Featuring the popular Elnella loveteam, the movie also stars Kiko Estrada, Kiray Celis, Dimples Romana, Dominic Ochoa, Kakai Bautista, Kaladkaren Davila, Rubi Rubi and a many more.
Opening on Valentine’s day, February 14, the movie will restore your faith in forever and “happily-ever-after.”
