Jowapao ready to replace TVJ? Paolo Ballesteros answers
In the presscon of “Barbie, D’ Wonder Beki,” Joey de leon was very vocal that only few comedians can make him laugh. He said he’s particularly amused by the comic trio of Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo and Paolo Ballesteros in the Juan for All segment of Eat Bulaga especially when the Tres Lolas assume the character of Lola Nidora, Lola Tinidora and Lola Tidora.
For Paolo, he said he’s flattered by Joey’s compliments
“Siyempre, coming from Joey, flattered ako. Bibihira mo kasing mapatawa ang mga iyan,” said.
However, he dismissed that Jowapao (the collective name of the comic trio) is being groomed as heirs apparent to the phenomenal Tito, Vic and Joey (TVJ).
“Nag-iisa lang ang Tito, Vic and Joey. Para namang wala pang ibang puwedeng pumalit sa kanila,” he pointed out.
“Kayang-kaya pa ng mga iyong magpatawa dahil hanggang ngayon, may asim pa sila. At malayong-malayo pa dahil marami pa kaming kakaining bigas,” he added.
Among the comic trio, he sees himself in the shoes of Joey.
“Mas nakikita ko ang sarili ko kay Joey kasi siya lang iyong nagbabakla-baklaan talaga. Kasi si Joey din ang kapareho ko ng animal sign sa Chinese zodiac calendar,” he explained.
Paolo has two movies this November with successive playdates: “Trip Ubusan” (November 22) and “Barbie, D’ Wonder Beki.” (November 29)
Asked if he’s pressured, he had this to say.
“Bakit ako kakabahan? Hindi naman ako ang producer. Alam ko namang maganda ang pelikula namin. Gusto ko lang mag-entertain ng positive thoughts. Unless iyong isa sobrang ganda at iyong isa, sobrang pangit. So, confident ako kahit magkasunod pa ang playdates nila,” he quipped.
When they do their comic acts together, he said there’s nary an instance of ‘sapawan” among them.
“Kaya nga Jowapao kami. Kumbaga, solid. Sanay na kasi kami sa Juan for All, kung ano iyong ipinapakita namin sa TV, iyon din kami kapag offcam at kapag nasa standby area. Hindi kami nag-iisip na lagpasan ang isa’t-isa. Nagsusuportahan kami at bilang grupo, suportado rin namin ang isa’t-isa sa pag-angat,” he elucidated.
He also admitted that doing make up transformation is a very tedious job, especially when he assumes different characters, including that of Lola Nidora’s.
“Napapagod din siyempre, pero, not to the point na ayoko na siyang gawin. Gusto ko rin naman siya dahil nae-enhance iyong creative side ko,” he declared.
For him, it is no big deal if his daughter sees him donning women’s clothes on television.
“Actually, natutuwa siya. Lahat naman ng characters na ginagawa ko, pag napapanood niya, walang violent reaction,” he said.
On the issue of Martin del Rosario replacing Christian Bables as Barbs in the series “Born Beautiful,” this is his take,
“Nanghihinayang siyempre pero it’s a decision that has to be made. Kung anuman ang naging desisyon ni Christian at ng Idea First, iginagalang ko siya. I believe naman na good replacement si Martin kay Christian as Barbs,” he concluded.
