Julie Anne San Jose doesn’t compete with other singers
In music arena, competition is very tough. Newbie singers, who are product of singing competition, enter that quickly like a blink of an eye. Others are remarkable, others aren’t. But Kapuso top performer Julie Anne San Jose makes her mark.
“I don’t see any problem with that naman kasi sobrang napakaraming talented na artists dito sa Pilipinas. Sobrang daming bago. And for me, hindi ko pine-feel ‘yung competition, I mean, hindi rin naman ako nakikipag kompetensya sa iba. As long as may palaging bago, and palaging trendy ‘yung aking music and as long as may mga nakaka-appreciate naman ng music ko, I think that’s the important thing naman.”
Julie’s mark as an artist is that she’s able to reinvent herself, from singing love songs to dancing and singing, doing them both. She also enters acting, proving to everyone that she’s multi talented. Talent. Charisma. Style. She manages to create her brand. She stays current.
“Palagi po akong online so usually kapag may time ako, nagba-browse ako kung ano ba ‘yung mga bago.”
Known for her songs “Let Me Be The One,” “Naririnig Mo Ba,” “Right Where You Belong,” and “I’ll Be There,” the singer-actress lends her voice to first Filipino anime series “Barangay 143.” It airs October 21, Sunday at GMA-7.
“Barangay 143” highlights Pinoy culture and Pinoy values through anime characters voiced by country’s seasoned artists Cherrie Gil, Lorna Tolentino, Edu Manzano, John Arcilla, and many more. Julie plays Vicky, a strong woman who fights whatever life gives her.
“Yung sa character ko po sobrang loving daughter nya. ‘Yung kulturang Pilipino, ‘yun ‘yung isa sa mga mahalagang nagamit ko dito sa Barangay 143 ay ‘yung hardwork, ‘yung mga pangarap mo na gusto mong abutin hindi basta basta dapat gini-give up. So kapag gusto mo ang isang bagay, gagawin mo sya, paghihirapan mo sya.
“Pakikisama sa bawat isa. Pagmamahal sa sarili and sa family.”
Recently, the Asia’s Pop Sweetheart wins Female Pop Artist of the Year at the PMPC Star Awards for Music. Julie writes, “Maraming salamat PMPC Star Awards for Music sa parangal na ito! Mabuhay ang OPM! To God be the glory.”
Already made as an artist, she shows her inner Gary V fan as she fangirls. At the Star Awards for Music, she grabbed the chance to have a photo with the Pure Energy, Gary.
“Last night, I sat next to Mr. Pure Energy at the PMPC Star Awards. Gosh, starstruck pa rin. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.”
