Kathryn Bernardo and Nadine Lustre finally meet

It might feel a bit weird seeing someone who looks pretty much like you. It’s like you’re facing a mirror or you’ve been cloned. That’s probably what Kathryn Bernardo and Nadine Lustre must’ve felt when they’ve officially met in person. The two Kapamilya stars met backstage before their production number last May 10, Sunday. They had always been compared with each other because both young ladies are the other halves of two of the popular loveteams in the country today.
In the past interviews, Bernardo admitted there exists ‘some kind of awkwardness’ between her and Lustre because a lot of people are constantly comparing them. “Baka mayroon kaming ‘awkwardness’ kasi sa social media kasi like Twitter and on Instagram, parang lagi kaming inuunahan ng lahat ng tao bago pa kami mag-meet,” Bernardo said on the defunct show ‘The Buzz’ last March. She also once said that she would also like to get to know Lustre more and maybe even make friends with her in the future.
“Our meeting was okay naman. Ako po kasi, I really don’t like the awkwardness. Kasi I heard what she said on ‘The Buzz’ before,” Lustre said.
Aside from the comparison between their respective loveteams, KathNiel (Kathryn-Daniel Padilla) and JaDine (James Reid-Nadine), the two are often compared also because they have similar looks. “Ayoko po kasi ng may ibang tao na na-awkward sa akin kasi hindi naman kailangan. There’s no need for her to be awkward with me. Wala naman akong grudge or negative feelings towards her, as in wala. Parang ang hirap po kasi pag may ganun na feeling,” Lustre added.
It was stylist Bang Pineda who paved the way for the two young stars to be formally introduced. “Si Bang po, in-introduce niya kami. He introduced me to Kath. Sabi niya, ‘Ay, never pa pala kayong na-introduce sa isa’t-isa,’ ganyan. Para ma-break din yung ice.”
“Sabi ko, I’m Nadine. Nice to meet you finally,’ ganyan. She was very nice naman.”
Lustre rose to fame via the phenomenal hit ‘Diary Ng Panget’, from there she had been receiving compliments and comments that she looks like Bernardo. Lustre, however, had shrugged off comparisons, pointing out that she and loveteam Reid are just starting out and still have so much to prove. Lustre’s latest film, ‘Para Sa Hopeless Romantic’ opens in theatres on Wednesday.
