Luna Awards 2016 announced winners; Vilma Santos and Jaclyn Jose received special recognition

The best of the best gathered in the 2016 Luna Awards, as announced the most outstanding works in terms of direction, performance, screenplay, cinematography, production design, editing, musical score and sound, organized and given by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), Sunday, September 18, Quezon City Sports Club.

Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto was recognized with the Reel Award, while 2016 Cannes Best Actress Jaclyn Jose was received special recognition for winning the spot as Best Actress in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Filipino historical biopic film Heneral Luna topped the night as received awards including Best Actor for John Arcilla, Best Film, Best Supporting Actor for Nonie Buencamino and Best Director for Jerrold Tarog and other technical awards.

Best Cinematography – Pong Ignacio (Heneral Luna)
Best Production Design – Benjamin Padero and Carlo Tabije (Heneral Luna)
Best Editing – Jerrold Tarog (Heneral Luna)
Best Musical Scoring – Jerrold Tarog (Heneral Luna)
Best Sound – Mikko Quizon (Heneral Luna)

Golden Reel Award – Vilma Santos-Recto
Fernando Poe Jr Lifetime Achievement Award – Emmanuel Borlaza
Manuel de Leon Award Exemplary Achievements – Herminio “Butch” Bautista
Lamberto Avellana Memorial Award – Azucena “Nene” Vera Perez
Plaque of Recognition – Jaclyn Jose

Luna Awards marked these people as hall of famers: Master writer Ricky Lee with seven awards, Director Joel Lamangan with five awards, Actor Phillip Salvador with eight awards, and music producer Willy Cruz with thirteen awards.
