Marian Rivera honors late driver Jojo Paredes who passed away last year
Marian Rivera and husband Dingdong Dantes’s Halloween costumes have always been something fans look forward to.
But this year, Marian and Dingdong chose to commemorate Marian’s late driver Jojo Paredes who passed away in 2019 due to cardiac arrest by releasing a tribute video.
Marian shared in her Tadhana online media conference, she said, “Siguro hindi lingid sa kaalaman, ‘pag may nangyayaring hindi maganda hindi ako masyadong nagpu-post kapag nagdadalamhati ako.
She continued, “So naisip ko lang na, si Kuya Jojo, 12 years kong kasama. Twelve years kaming dalawa na buddy buddy ‘nun,” she recalled.
Marian admitted that his sudden death came as a shock to her, leading to months of grief. “Ilang buwan akong na-depress na iyak ako ng iyak. Kuya kuya-han ko talaga siya. Kahit wala na siya, may guardian angel [kami ng mga anak ko]. “
The Tadhana host explained that she chose to skip on Halloween costume festivities this year and focus on remembering her deceased loved ones, especially her late driver who marked his first death anniversary this year.
“Kaya ayaw namin mag-costume bilang may pandemya.”
She added, that despite the safety protocols, there are ways to remember the dearly departed. “Maraming paraan para bigyan sila ng pagmamahal kahit wala na sila.
The actress also pondered on how to pay respects to the deceased despite the social distancing protocols, “Kahit anong mangyari, bigyang halaga pa rin ‘yung mga mahal natin sa buhay kahit wala na sila. Maraming way para alalahanin natin sila.”
In her tribute video with Dingdong, Marian is seen making her homemade spaghetti, her Kuya Jojo’s favorite.
“Super favorite niya ‘yung spaghetti ko…’pag niluluto ko ‘yun tuwang tuwa siya.”
She continued, ‘Pag napapanood ko, naiiyak pa rin ako. Pero ganoon talaga ang buhay, masakit pero may dahilan,” she concluded.
On a lighter note, Marian is celebrating her third year in hosting the weekly drama anthology show Tadhana which will be celebrating this year with fresh episodes of inspiring stories from Filipinos all over the world.
