Pia Wurtzbach finds new mentor

Mar 12, 2018

Being a jolly person in real life, former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach could easily relate to her character Abi in the romcom “My Perfect You,” her first screen teamup with Gerald Anderson.

“Yes, may similarities kami. I play Abi, ako iyong may-ari ng resort. Siya iyong super bubbly character, na full of sunshine, palaging mataas ang energy niya kaya palagi lang siyang masaya,” she said.

Sa totoong buhay, I can relate sa kakulitan niya and Direk Cathy Molina told me, iyan, ganyan ang gawin mo.

Being helmed for the first time by the box office director, she said that she savoured the challenge of portraying the Basha-inspired character (popularized by Bea Alonzo, her leading man’s girlfriend, in “One More Chance” in the movie.

“Well, napanood ko rin naman ang “One More Chance.” Lagi kong iniisip na iba ito and I’m not really supposed to copy it as it is.

She said that she also enjoyed working with Gerald who’s in her bucket list.

“Marami akong natutunan sa kanya at inalalayan niya talaga ako dahil mas malawak ang experience niya kesa sa akin pagdating sa acting,” she asseverated.

“When I was told we’ll do a movie, siyempre, medyo may kaba. Kasi it would seem awkward kapag mas mataas ako sa leading man ko. I really enjoyed doing the movie with him,” she added.

She’s also glad that she’s found a new mentor in Cathy Garcia Molina.

The romcom “My Perfect You” is about imperfect guy who finds his universe in a perfect girl.

She also hinted on how one would know if she has found her perfect match.

Hindi naman siya at first sight lang. May pagdadaanan pa kayo, meron pang mga obstacles, mga challenges na kaya pala masaya, kaya din minsan pala malungkot, tapos unti-unti mong mare-realize na siya pala iyong talagang para sa akin, not necessarily in other people’s eyes but perfect for you sa sarili mo,” she pointed out.

Although, she has found her inspiration in bemedalled car racer Marlon Stockinger, she said that they are still in the process of constantly discovering each other.

Marami pa akong gustong ma-experience with regards to my personal relation with him. I won’t really be able to say that until I get married. So, I hope so,”she said.

For her, being content in her ‘universe’ is her secret to happiness.

“I wouldn’t say that my universe is perfect but I’m happy. I accept everything in my life right now. I’ve accepted my mistakes, I’ve accepted the challenges. Of course, there’s the success and there are the achievements but it’s far from perfect, but it’s who I am and it makes me happy and I’m very content with my universe,” she concluded.

From the script of Kristine Gabriel and Carmi Raymundo and from the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina, “My Perfect You” is a perfect romcom treat this summer.

Also in the cast are Janus del Prado, Half Rice and Wilma Doesnt.

The movie unreels in cinemas starting March 14.
