Playing mermaid is a dream come true
For Teen Sweetheart Janella Salvador, portraying a mermaid in “My Fairy Tail Love Story” is a dream come true.
“I was so humbled to portray a mermaid kasi maraming babae ang gustong maging mermaid. Marami ang may dream na makapag-play ng mermaid sa pelikula o kahit sa teleserye, so I’m very honored for the opportunity. Happy din ako at I trusted naman Direk’s talent and artistic skills,” she said.
As a young girl, she grew up loving mermaids.
“Since I was young, pinapanood ko na ang Little Mermaid. Pabalik-balik at ilang beses ko na siyang napanood. Gasgas na nga ang DVD sa kapapanood ko. I wanted kasi talaga to be a mermaid at Mulan dahil strong princess siya. Iyong iba ngang mga bata, nagtatampisaw pa sa tubig at nag-iimagine na sila ay mermaid, so ganoon ang impact niya sa akin,” she confided.
In preparation for her role as Chantel, she took up diving lessons.
“Nag-mermaid lesson ako at nag-diving lessons ako. Actually, mas natakot ako sa lesson kesa sa actual shoot, kasi nag-practice kami sa diving pool na 4 meters deep. Tapos, kinakabahan pa ako kasi medyo claustrophobic ako noong pinapunta nila ako sa ilalim. So, iyon ang preparations ko,” she pointed out.
At 19, Janella said that she’s not entertaining yet.
“I’m just actually taking my time and enjoying what I have now with Elmo. Super ini-enjoy ko ang friendship ko kay Elmo. I want to get to know each other a lot pa. It does not matter naman kung gaano katagal, basta happy kami, so, iyon lang,” she declared.
She also added that she’s focused on her acting and singing career.
She also said that if ever that she decides to entertain suitors in the future, Elmo would be a priority.
“Siya iyong kasama ko ngayon eh, so manligaw na siya,” she remarked.
She also cited why Elmo is special to her.
“Recently I got sick kasi nagkaroon ako ng viral infection. One thing I like about Elmo, maalaga talaga siya. He would always remind me to take my meds. Nag-visit din siya sa akin noong may sakit ako, tapos siya pa ang nagtitimpla say kung kailangan kong uminom ng Hydrite para hindi ma-dehydrate. One thing that I appreciate about Elmo is that he lets you know how much you are important to him,” she quipped.
From Regal Films and Idea first Company and from the direction of acclaimed director Perci Intalan, “My Fairy Tail Love Story” features Elnella in their the big screen debut.
Opening on Valentine’s Day, the movie also stars Kiko Estrada, Kiray Celis, Dimples Romana, Dominic Ochoa, Kakai Bautista, Kaladkaren Davila, Rubi Rubi and a lot more.
