Apr 26, 2019

Ang Himaya was founded by “Rocker- Preacher” Alvin Barcelona, ang lead vocals ng banda who also plays the guitar. Now, Himaya is now being re-launched and repackaged with a revitalized music and image, highlighted with their upcoming new single, “Payakap.”

“Music is a universal language and one of the most effective ways to send out your message. It is a gift that needs to be shared,” pag-amin ni Alvin sa presscon nito kamakailan.

The kind of music that the Himaya playing are mostly inspirational songs, or songs with messages of hope, faith, peace, and love. Advocates sila ng OFM though ang basic sound nila is still pop-rock.

“Actually we play all kinds of music. Sa mga gig namin, whenever there are request of songs for the millennials, andyan naman si Aio, my son, who sang for them at sa mga gusto nilang kanta.

Thru the years, siyempre nagi-evolve ang music. Like now, we have different platforms so madali na itong maiparating sa mga tao.

“Our strength is …we are doing some kind of music like the old and the new tapos we collaborate para mabigyan pa namin ng tamang timpla at tunog. We try to do something na hindi pa nakikinig ng iba.

“Ang goal namin is to inspire people thru our music.  Like what I said, iba-ibang genre ang type of music namin para sumakto sa taste ng mga tao na mahilig sa musika,” pahayag pa rin ni Alvin.

Recently, ang Madhouse Music Company (MMC) owned and managed by OPM icon singer- actor Rannie Raymundo took in the Himaya under its wings.

“My brother Lance ( Raymundo, singer-actor), introduces me to Alvin and the company. Sabi nung brother ko, pakinggan ko ‘yung music ng Himaya and I was impressed! We like their songs and kakaiba sya sa mga narinig na natin.

“Like what Bro Alvin says, very inspiring ‘yung type of songs nila. When you listen “Payakap,” their new single, napakaganda! The song will not only entertain but also inspire, move, and even bless the world, which at present could surely use Himaya’s brand of music,” sey naman ni Rannie who is also present at the presscon.

“With Himaya band, we believe sa kind of music nila. ‘Yung latest single nila, ito ngang “Payakap,” iba eh! Ang ganda ng tunog at ang message nung kanta parang you are asking God to hug you at ikaw din sinasabi mo na payakap sa kanya.

“We believe Himaya band that’s why we are happy to have them sa MMC. Looking forward kami to a more beautiful and inspiring music na gagawin nila,” diretsong sey pa ni Rannie.

Ang Himaya band is composed of Alvin Barcelona, (Lead vocals, guitar), Jeric Mison, (Keyboards), Matthew Perez (Bass), Mike Nuez (Lead guitar, Vocals), Gab Espinosa- the youngest among the group who is 16 year-old (Drummer) and Aio Barcelona (Vocals, Guitar-singer and songwriter/recording artist and a graduating La Salle Benilde millennial).

On May 5, 2019 (Sunday), their new single “Payakap,” along with its music video, will be officially released on Spotify, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
