Real heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary things—Ayala Foundation
For Ayala Foundation, real heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary things in pursuit of their noble deeds. They could be the ‘common tao’ who find the strength to rise above overwhelming difficulties or good Samaritans who embody the traits of self-sacrifice, concern for others and empathy for the common good.
In commemoration of National Heroes Day (August 26), it launched its new National Anthem video that pays homage to
ordinary heroes from different walks of life at the historic Tutuban Mall.
Noteworthy, the video has no big stars nor celebrities but features ordinary Pinoys who take part in nation building-parents, workers, civil servants and others who work with honesty and dignity for their families, their communities and the country. It also adheres closely to Ayala Foundation’s ongoing Maging Magiting advocacy campaign, which promotes love of country and seeks to recognize the extraordinary virtues of ordinary Filipinos.
“Ang kagitingan kasi, hindi kailangang malaki. Hindi siya kailangang artista, but we’re not saying the artistas are not magiting. We could be magiting in our own small way.Ayala has chose to go into spaces where we are most needed. It’s celebrating the extraordinary and ordinary people, “said Cel Amores, AFI Senior Director for Corporate Communications.
“Ayala Foundation remains strongly committed to nation-building. The new National Anthem video is our way of honoring the people and communities whom we serve in both modest and big ways. We are all under one flag-united as one Filipino country, one Filipino people who desire a better future for our children and better lives for all,” said Ruel Maranan, Ayala Foundation president.
“Maging magiting is a campaign we want to push. We can be magiting in our own way. As we celebrate our 185th anniversary, we would like to highlight 4th the spirit of collaboration, partnership and volunteerism that is embedded in Ayala’s corporate culture,” stressed John Phillip Orbeta, group head for corporate resources at Ayala Corporation.
This new video is just one way for us to show how Ayala’s 45,000-strong workforce is committed in nation building.
“What is nice with this video is the focus of the viewers on the flag and the national anthem. Minsan kasi naaagaw ng mga artista ang atensyon ng mga tao. Acapella rin siya kasi minsan inaagaw ng mga banda ang atensyon ng mga tao, kaya we feature the common tao,” elucidated Rene Escalante, National Historical Commission of the Philippines chairman.
The special event ended by laying a wreath at the foot of the monument of Andres Bonifacio at the Tutuban Center grounds.
