Rock season for Yan Sison
More than just a singer, this pop-rock and ballad artist from Kidapawan in North Cotabato explores his writing and producing arm.
Member of Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP), Yan Sison at 30, finds his way of recovering from heartbreak, rocky roads through singing, writing and producing songs. Yan believes that it feels good to always know your truth as an artist.
“Pero mas driven ako now na 30 na ako. And mas ready na ako.”
As an artist, he sings the vibes of his life. He was the leader of the band called “Avalon Beyond.” From band to becoming solo artist, Yan pulls off because he gets to know what he likes and what he dont. For an artist to grow, it’s good to assess.
“Dati kasi puro banda lang ako and music. ‘Di ako masaya na ganon.
“Now, mas okay ako kasi I get to explore new things din.”
Dedicated, exerted efforts, Yan’s works were nominated at the PMPC Star Awards for Music (2016) for Best Rock Artist and Best Rock Album. Luckily, he bagged the title for Best Rock Album of 2016.
Rock artist, sometimes, has that character to portray. That strong personality, that loud, that energy, that distinct voice, that look. But as time changes, that’s not the case. It’s the message of the song that rocks! Yan rocks!
“Napagod na ako sa maiingay.”
He was part of the 30th annual Awit Awards last 2017 as one of the judges. The rock artist in him made that possible. Because he always loves music. And it’s always a fun experience for him singing to people he loves.
It was her mom who loves show business. That mom’s love for showbiz connects Yan to what he loves to do. Apart from music, he tried acting. He appeared in ABS-CBN’s “Ang Probinsyano,” “Home Sweetie Home,” “Super D,” “On The Wings Of Love” and Star Cinema’s “Love Me Tomorrow.”
This hardworking singer-songwriter and producer wants to accomplish the total music experience by releasing first solo album titled “UNDERRATED” with its carrier single “Kayang Kaya” under a new management company I. Entertainment Co.
Heartbreaks, feeling too tired, rocky road–all these things are just one kicked by Yan for he believes “Kayang Kaya” because he is a “Fighter” so whatever “Fire” in life, “The Best Thing” always happens.

“Di ba may label now si Kean kasama asawa niya. Magcocollaborate kami ng show soon sa provinces like davao, etc.”
How he balances everything
“Pero right now mas career and family oriented ako.
“Kasi habang tumatagal, parang tayo as a person, nagiging mature rin ang mga desisyon and all.
“Mas iniisip ‘yung ‘di lang para sa sarili.”
Yan adds, “Kasi now, ‘di lng music iniisip ko. Nasa films din, ‘yung I entertainement ako kasi head ng prod house. Dami talaga ako ginagawa kasama partners ko ng company.”
September is a season of rock for Yan. His album is expected to be out and the music video of his first single will also be out this September on MYX.
