All-star cast anti-piracy Infomercial to hit theaters
Matt Daclan from Indie films ‘Soap Opera’ and ‘Swap’ will be the main star in the newest all-star cast anti-piracy infomercial produced by the Motion Picture Anti Film Piracy Council (MPAFPC) together with Philippine Motion Pictures Producers Association (PMPPA), the Movie Producers & Distributors Association of the Philippines and major theater operators.
Dan Villegas, director of ‘English Only Please’ divulged that the infomercial’s idea came from a concept shared by her girlfriend, Antoinette Jadaone who directed ‘That Thing Called Tadhana.’ In the latest video flick the movie pirate played by Daclan is no longer capturing the film but is already behind bars joined by faces which viewers would surely be familiar with.
MMDA and Metro Manila Film Festival Chairman Francis Tolentino also appeared in the infomercial to talk about the effects of piracy to the movie industry. Tolentino’s scene was inside an empty theatre which depicts the ultimate result of piracy.
It is clearly seen that this new infomercial wants to convey a clearer, more serious and direct message to movie goers and to those who would attempt to pirate films. Film piracy is prominent evidenced by the rampant selling of pirated DVDs along sidewalks of Metro Manila and even in provinces.
Can this new all-star cast anti-piracy infomercial make a difference? What do you think?
