WITH HER UKULELE: Reneè Dominique sets the indie vibe, shares her passion

A young poetic, cool-indie girl with her four-string instrument, filled the room with excitement, set the vibe by singing her calm-unique choice of music, is totally a must-watch- out-for in the music scene.
Reneè is a singer-songwriter, a theatre student from University of the Philippines, a STAR MAGIC artist covering songs in Youtube with 26,000 subscribers.
She’s into dancing, hip-hop and lyrical and also she’s into sports.
She performed in ASAP last Sunday and did a cameo in ABS-CBN’s Born For You. She also got invited in some events like Earth Hour with Ms. Gina Lopez, Youtube and Google Fest. And this coming August 14, she will be featured in Matanglawin in ABS-CBN.
Her interest in music
The young artist got into music, started by listening to her grandparents who used to sing way back. Her parents also have the voice that definitely she got from.
“I came from musical family from both sides, my lolo and lola, my parents so ever since talaga I was younger I would come with my parents during recordings and my parents also voice talents before like they do some commercials, nag vo-voice talent sila. Ever since talaga I was young I would come to studio then later pag-uwi magugulat sila kasi hina-hum ko na yung kinakanta nila. I enjoyed talaga singing so much”
Her instrument
What makes this girl unique is how she blends into music, her taste, her talent. She both plays guitar and ukulele.
“Yung ukulele kasi it’s small, it has four strings and a lot easier to play than the guitar though it doesn’t really require parang background when it comes to playing kasi easy sya to learn. Ukulele is more of like happy instrument which can be only played with certain songs”
Her Youtube experience
With her growing 26,000 subscribers in Youtube, she never let her fans disappointed. She continues singing, covering songs that relaxes one’s mind and ear, very calm, indie-chill vibe.
“The funds that will go to your videos will go to the label ng song na kinover mo. But when it comes to hitting 25, 000 subscribers, I’ve been doing Youtube for three years, it’s just grew from there and it’s constantly growing”
Her Star Magic experience
For every artist before getting into limelight, they had to undergo from the bottom of the ladder. It’s a step by step process and you have to work for it, you have to nail it, you have to standout.
“I started when I was fourteen. Pumila kami, ang haba ng pila. Second to the last ako na na-cut off so I was blessed. Then months after the workshop, tinawagan ako asking to go for go-see with Mr. Johnny Manahan, the head of Star Magic. I was there na ako yung pinaka-unprepared, naka-dress and sneakers lang, may dala lang akong ukulele. When Mr. M interviewed me already, pinakanta nya ako and he liked it, he was singing along and he brought me na to other handlers for listening session”
Her plans in acting career
Reneè talked about how she likes acting. It’s good to know that she’s not afraid of discovering new things because someone who shines their star bright is someone who’s not afraid to fly.
“Besides being a singer-songwriter, I always wanna be an actress, that’s also another passion of mine. That’s why I’m taking theatre kasi inline to what I wanted to do pero if there like opportunities, auditions I will continue to audition”
The sounds that she creates are different, the fingers that hits those strings are impressive, the smile that she gives is adorable, the words that comes from her deep-soul is poetic, this girl Reneè Dominique Pionso is taking it step by step, from humming to singing, from covering to owning album.
With her uniqueness, charm and talent, she will surely be a star that will shine bright, she will surely the NEXT BIG THING in music industry. So, you must watch out for her!
