Veteran actress Marita Zobel shares her “firsts”

At 77, veteran actress Marita Zobel had her first-ever kissing scene in ‘Dagsin,’ a film by Atom Magadia, showing this April 20 in cinemas. 

In an interview, she said she’s very grateful that she still gets projects. She remembers during her generation, there were no workshops, no managers, no handlers. 

“Maswerte mga artista ngayon, may mga workshop na. They have managers din,” she expressed.

Her appearance in ‘Dagsin’ gave her first-ever acting award, though she received nominations from her past movies. She won Best Actress in a Cameo Role from Urduja Film Festival.

The film also stars Tommy Abuel who won four Best Actor trophies. Both Tommy and Marita, as described by director Atom, were professionals.

“They are first on the set, last to leave. Quiet but always ready. And take note, only two takes per scene throughout the shoot,” director shared.

‘Dagsin’ is a beautiful and touching love story about courageous people, who were willing to sacrifice everything to protect their loved ones against the tragedies of human existence. 

It stars Tommy Abuel, Lotlot de Leon, Benjamin Alves, Janine Gutierrez, Sue Prado, Alex Diaz, and Marita Zobel. Catch in cinemas April 20.
