Vice ends war issue with Coco
PRAISES!
The phenomenal and unkabogable star Vice Ganda is elated that his MMFF entry “Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad” is recommended by the National Artist for Literature, Bienvenido Lumbera.
Lumbera is the chairman of the screening committee of the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival.
The acclaimed Filipino poet, critic and dramatist said he will recommend Vice’s movie to his grandchildren because it is one such jolly and finely crafted movie.
“Siyempre, flattered ako. Coming from a National Artist, nakakataba siya ng puso. I’m glad na nagustuhan niya ang pelikula namin,” Vice said.
CLARIFIES!
Once and for all, Vice, finally opened up on his rumoured feud with Kapamilya primetime King Coco Martin whose movie “Panday” is a stiff box office competitor come MMFF.
BOX-OFFICE!
He also said that he’s glad that their films were chosen as entries to the traditional movie fiesta.
“Mga bata pa kami ni Coco, wala pa kami parehong pera, gusto na naming mangyari ito,” he said.
“Ngayon na nangyayari sa aming dalawa, masayang masaya kami pareho,” he added.
Vice and Coco starred in the 2015 MMFF entry “Beauty and the Bestie.” It was followed by “Super Parental Guardians” last year which did not qualify to the MMFF.
However, it made history at the tills when it broke all box office records when it was adjudged as the highest grossing Pinoy film of all time.
DREAM ROLE!
He also admitted that it’s his long time dream to play a superhero in a movie.
PREPARATIONS!
In preparation for his role, he said that he underwent training in boxing and jujitsu for the movie’s action sequences.
If in the past movies, he gave breaks to child wonders like Onyok, Aura, Alonzo Muhlach and Marco Masa, this year, it’s Carlo Mendoza (Gigil Kid) and JJ Quilantang’s time to shine.
DECLARES!
He also confessed that he has a soft spot for kids, but did not entertain the thought of adopting one.
He’s mighty aware that adopting a child is such a herculean responsibility and for him, a very complicated process.
MISS U & TEEN KING!
It’s Vice Ganda’s first time to work with former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach who plays Kweenie, a woman with superpowers, too and second time with Teen King Daniel Padilla whom he has worked in “Sisterakas.”
From Star Cinema and Viva Films and from the inspired direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal, “Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad” also stars Karla Estrada, MC Mwah, Lassy, Wacky Kiray, JJ Quilantang and Carlo Mendoza.
The movie hits theatres nationwide starting on December 25, Christmas Day.
