No less than Manila Vice Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso a.k.a. Isko Moreno leads the oathtaking ceremony of the newly elected officers and members of the board of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) for the year 2016.

When asked about his showbiz projects once elected as senator, Moreno said he will ask the Senate to address any form of economic privileges both for movie producers and performers.

“I think the royalty principle should be applied also to actors and actresses (not only to singers). Why? May mga kababayan tayong kapwa nating mga artista noong nagkaedad, siyempre hihina… normal naman talagang hihina ang kita mo, e. Pero noong kabataan mo, ang lakas mong kumita at ang dami mo nang pelikula, pero hindi mo na napapakinabangan ngayon,” he explained.

“Then we will also encourage producers to produce more movies by giving certain privileges or tax holidays on certain movies, especially if the movies will talk about our history or about our culture…This will also encourage nationalism,” he said.

There was no grand ceremony but the presence of VM Moreno and the fabulous ambiance of Myons are enough to make the afternoon memorable.

For then movie actor Isko Moreno, PMPC has had helped him a lot in his career and “for wherever I am now as public official.”
During his speech, he promised to help the club especially now that the legendary showbiz master showman German “Kuya Germs” Moreno has gone home to heaven. PMPC is a none profit club and Kuya Germs had always been around to support the club.

“Dahil kayo man ay nawalan rin ng tatay-tatayan, anuman ang kalalabasan ng darating na eleksyon, andito ako para suportahan kayo,” Moreno, who is running for senator in the 2016 May elections, said.

He added that he is willing to continue most of Kuya Germs’ projects for the showbiz industry such as the restoration of the Manila Metropolitan Theatre o MET.

IMG_1910[1]“Nakamatayan na ni Kuya Germs iyan, e. Definitely for MET, I’ll do my very best. If I get elected, I will do my best in the form of law to bring back its glory because it’s part of our history and our industry,” he said.
He said he will also continue to support the Walk of Fame project of Kuya Germs. “Every year naman sumu-support ako doon, e,” he said.
