What’s special about Deadma Walking according to Joross Gamboa
In my previous interview with Joross Gamboa, he said that he will not accept gay roles anymore for fear of being typecast.
During the presscon of “Deadma Walking” where he plays another gay role he explained his change of heart.
Although playing another gay role, he tried to infuse freshness to his character.
After “Deadma Walking” he also believes that he won’t be stuck in playing gay roles.
He said that he doesn’t mind if his movie would be compared to last year’s MMFF smash hit “Die Beautiful.”
He intimated that he also would like to work with Paolo Ballesteros.
“Gusto ko ring makatrabaho si Pao,” he enthused.
It would also be a challenge for him to try Paolo’s talent for makeup transformation.
“Feeling ko ang tagal ng proseso noon pero feeling ko kaya ko rin iyon kasi, for example, sa “Buy Bust” may tattoo ako hanggang singit, so, siguro, kakayanin din,” he pointed out.
If given a chance to mimic a famous celebrity and be transformed through makeup, he wants to do a Anne Hathaway lookalike.
“Siguro iyong ginawa ni Anne Hathaway sa “Les Miserables.” Kamukha ko raw kasi si Anne Hathaway, so iyong acting na lang niya ang dapat kong pag-aralan,” he expounded.
Joross is thankful to all friends and peers who made cameo appearances in the movie like Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, Iza Calzado and a lot more.
Wala silang bayad. Nagmukhang mamahalin iyong pelikula kahit ilang weeks lang namin siyang ni-shoot,” he shared.
“Deadma Walking” is a perfect “beshie” movie this season. It is about the story of a terminally ill gay man (Joross) who fakes his own death to attend his own wake to hear his friends’ views on him.
Based on the Palanca award-winning play of Eric Cabahug, Joross shares stellar honors with Edgar Allan Guzman, his “beshie” in real life.
Also in the cast are Dimples Romana, Candy Pangilinan and Vin Abrenica.
Produced by TRex Entertainment and directed by Julius Alfonso, “Deadma Walking,” an official entry to the 2017 MMFF, hits cinemas nationwide starting December 25.
