Winwyn says she will use her experience at Philippine Navy to portray challenging role like ‘Nelia’
Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 winner and actress Winwyn Marquez completed her Basic Citizen Military Course (BCMC) which was supervised by the Philippine Navy (PN) last year.
In a previous interview, the talented Kapuso artist said she decided to become a military reservist after seeing her friend, a Marine reservist, help others who are in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
She added, “I want to empower the Filipino youth, especially the women, to go out of their comfort zone and serve the Philippines. I want to support our troops and their families who endure all sorts of sacrifices just so they can protect us Filipinos.”
During a March 19 online press conference for her upcoming suspense-thriller movie “Nelia,” Winwyn shared that the said military course has helped her not just physically but also mentally and emotionally.
In the film, Marquez will be playing the role of a doctor who has multiple personalities.
“Nu’ng binigay nila sa akin ‘yung script to read, I said yes. After the last page, sabi ko I want to play the character. I wasn’t sure yet kung kukunin nila ako pero hindi ako nagdalawang-isip kasi it’s very exciting, ibang-iba. Never ko pa nagawa ito,” she said.
“Nelia” is directed by Lester Dimaranan, with screenplay written by Atty. Melanie Honey Quiño, from A and Q Productions Film, Inc, which is making the movie as its maiden film.
It also stars Vin Abrenica, Ali Forbes, Dexter Doria, Lloyd Samartino, Mon Confiado, Shido Roxas and Raymond Bagatsing.
