Xian Lim, “collaborative” kind of director; starts taping reunion serye with girlfriend
Hindi lang artista, singer at TV host si Xian Lim, kundi isa na rin siya ngayong direktor at scriptwriter.
Ang first directorial job niya ay ang Tabon, isa sa official entries sa Cinemalaya 2019, na siya rin mismo ang sumulat ng script.
Isa itong psychological thriller, na ang cast members ay sina Cristopher Roxas, Ynna Asistio, Dexter Doria, Bapbap Reyes, Menggie Cobarrubias, Leon Miguel, Benjie Felife, Lao Rodrigues, at Richard Manabat.
“I always wanted to direct and buti na lang napasama ako sa group of people na sumusuporta sa vision ko especially Sir Ricky Lee who helped us in Batch 17 of the workshop,” sabi ni Xian na ang tinutukoy ay ang 15-week workshop na dinaluhan niya mula sa nasabing veteran scripwriter.
Dagdag niya, “It was so hard to get into his workshop. I owe him a lot, talagang inampon niya kami. It’s really great that he opened his class to the public and inspire people. I was really shy in his class and they really pushed everyone to become better people and writer, from your ego to our insecurities. He has a disclaimer that it’s not him who will teach us to write but life’s stories.”
Paano niya ia-assess ang sarili niya bilang isang baguhang direktor?
“I’m not the type who just tells them what to do. It has always been a collaborative effort. I also listen to what they suggest. If I think that’s also good, then we meet halfway and execute it,” sagot niya.

Samantala, bukod sa Tabon, may natapos ding pelikula si Xian, ang “Untrue” na leading man siya ni Cristine Reyes. At ang “Love The Way You Lie” na kapareha naman niya si Alex Gonzaga. Nagsimula na rin siya sa taping ng seryeng “Love Thy Woman” na balik-tambalan nila ng ka-loveteam at girlfriend na si Kim Chiu.
